George Tunis Named One of Top 25 Newsmakers of 2004 By ENR Magazine

Engineering News Record (ENR), published by McGraw Hill, recently named George Tunis of Hardwire LLC as one of the top 25 newsmakers of 2004. Hardwire has been used in several high profile blast strengthening jobs throughout Washington DC and has been recently awarded a grant from the Defense Advanced Research Programs Agency (DARPA) to continue to explore the application of their proprietary high-tensile steel reinforcement products as an armament for military vehicles.

"Hardwire really has been an amazing team effort inside our company and with our customers, partners and suppliers," said Tunis. "Speaking for all of us, this is an amazing honor and we are humbled to be included in the company of the other ENR award recipients."

Tunis added that Hardwire is still in its infancy and the best is yet to come, especially with regards to how the material is impacting the Homeland Security and Defense armor arenas. "Hardwire -- used in concert with plastics, wood and high-strength cements -- offers end-users the strength, toughness and mold-ability of ultra tensile steel cords combined with the world's most trusted and cost-effective materials," said Tunis. "We are breaking new ground with leading automotive, wood, and cement technology companies by merging the material advantages of Hardwire with world-class manufacturing capabilities. The developing partnerships are fundamentally changing the armor industrial base, production capacity and price points, shifting the industry to mass production."
